Hilsen fra Norge! (Greetings from Norway)

This is the BANNER editor Pastor Jonathan Unverzagt, along with his wife Hope, emailing you from the General Assembly of the Norwegian Lutheran Mission taking place this year in Bergen. It was over 100 years ago that the NLM was formed right here in Bergen. For those who have never had the blessing of visiting Norway, Bergen is a very mountainous beautiful city on the west coast.

This year's theme is "Til Frihet" - FOR FREEDOM taken from Galatians 5, "It was for freedom that Christ set you free..."

Last night (Wednesday) we atteneded the opening session and were brought up on stage to be introduced by Ola Tullan, the general secretary of NLM, along with the other international guests. This inculded people from Finland, Iceland, The Faroe Islands(between Norway and Iceland), Denmark, Japan and Peru. We are the only Americans in attendence.

We have been challenged by Sverre Boe to remember that we are by nature children of wrath under the curse and bondage to sin but the blood of Jesus truly sets us free when we come to Him.

We have met many longtime friends of HFM and I will write of them in tomorrow's posting and hopefully send a couple of pictures.
